Where Does Your Money Go?

Note: The following commentary originally appeared in The Weekly Press, Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Volume 31, Number 25; August 5, 2004; page 6.

We measure the size of America’s problems in dollars but money is not the problem.

Congress easily approved a Trillion Dollars of additional Debt to fund the Bush Administration’s third round of tax reductions for the rich and the Special Interest Groups and to pay for expensive missiles and bombs to be delivered free to foreign nations.

But that same Congress couldn’t find money to buy medicine for the elderly? Or to fully fund the No Child Left Behind Program? What is wrong with this picture?

The National Debt, now in excess of seven Trillion dollars, demonstrates that money is not the problem. The problem is how the money is being spent.

No Child Left Behind. Isn’t that a noble sounding goal? Gives one that fuzzy warm-puppy feeling.

A No Child Left Behind Program sounds great, but why not a Send Some Children On Ahead Program? Talented children and young adults, who never reach their full potential because of a lack of resources, surely outnumber the children lagging behind. Why not do both? Obviously, it is not lack of money.

America today is not the America envisioned by the Founding Fathers. They never intended that we should be a Nation of Slaves, condemned to indentured servitude by endless Debt.

The solution to many of our national problems is so simple that even a toddler would understand it. AMERICA: It’s mine and I want it back!

Dr. Harvey F. Barnard, a local resident, is the author of The National Economic Stabilization and Recovery Act, NESARA, a Bill written to address these problems. The NESARA plan lets working people who make the money keep more of the money they make. Download and read the plan at the NESARA Institute web site, nesara.org.

NESARA is the first step by which working Americans can reclaim their Nation from the Rich Special Interest Groups and from their subordinates, our Public Servants who have become our Public Masters.

If you want more of the kind of government you have been getting, all you have to do is nothing. Politicians behind the curtains in Washington have more of the same planned for your future and that of your children and you children’s children.

But if you want meaningful change, you will have to make it for yourself.
